Centered by the City of Kamloops and surrounded by dozens of
smaller communities scattered throughout vast regions of desert,
prairies, ranchland and snow-capped mountains; each offers their
own unique character to the Thompson-Nicola Region. Visit our
website or for more information.
The Tranquille Complex was a sanitarium and small city unto itself 15 minutes outside Kamloops near Kamloops Lake. It was closed in 1974. There are 3 hospital buildings, several administration buildings with offices and living quarters, a cafeteria building, laundry building, power station, fire hall, gymnasium, and elementary school with playground. It has ranch stables and farm barns and support buildings plus a slaughter house, chicken coop, pig pens, a blacksmith shop, a carpenter and paint shop plus fields for crops & dry-storage areas. There are two dorms - one for the nurses called High Park and one for ranch hands called Meadowview, plus a residential area for employees and doctors. The residential area has 2-plexes, 4-plexes and small bungalows with garages. Tunnels connect the hospital buildings to other buildings. There is also a small enclosed cemetery.
FILMING - High impact production, explosions and demolition is allowed. Property is undergoing renovations so check with Thompson-Nicola Film Commission for updates.
